BE KIND--BE RESPECTFUL--BE RESPONSIBLE--BE SAFE

Montclair Families,

I hope you are all doing well during this continued challenge we are facing. Please know that we are here to help and support if we can! I'm attaching the "check-in" survey again if you'll let us know if you need anything and how your family is doing. Teachers, counselors, and admin are happy to give you a call or give a student a call if needed!

We hope that you enjoyed our most recent video message from staff. We all had some tears watching the final product! We miss everyone so much. I'm including it below in case you missed it. I'm also including our ABC Countdown to close out the year!

Thank you to all who submitted a bike video for our Virtual Bike to School! I have included that below for you to see!

Updates

  • There will be information coming out in a few weeks to provide an opportunity for parents to pick up student belongings. This will include student yearbooks if you purchased one. A specific date and more information will be available after further updates are shared at the end of May from Governor Northam.

  • We will be watching our student numbers and budget closely for next year. If your family is moving, please be sure to fill out the moving survey below. If you know of a new family in our boundary, please share the online registration information with them! This helps us make the best plans based on projections.

  • We are growing in size next year! Our 4th grade will have 5 sections instead of 4. This creates some movement in our building as we are already filling up most of our rooms. We will have two trailers remaining next year. They will stay behind the building where they are at currently. As of now, it is anticipated that these trailers will just be office spaces. There is a possibility that Signet could be in one of the trailers if we have to add an additional class at any other grade level other than 4th grade.

  • 5th grade virtual promotion is scheduled for June 11th at 6:30. More details will be shared with families soon. All other grade levels will celebrate with their classmates and teacher during a Zoom meeting before the end of the year.

Playground Enhancements

We are so excited to have some new additions to our playgrounds! Special thanks to PTCO and all of our families for their contributions this year! Our Fun Run was a HUGE success and we were able to purchase more equipment than we initially planned! We can't wait for our cardinals to be back in school to enjoy the new equipment. If you happen to go by school, please know that the orange fencing will remain up and no one should be using the equipment until school is open again.

Cardinals' Coffee

We will be having a Zoom gathering to check in with any parents who would like to join our virtual discussion on Tuesday, May 26th from 10:00-11:00. This will be casual and you can join at any point during that time. The meeting will include Mr. Miller and Mrs. Parks, as well as a few staff members from our Advisory Council. We would love to hear how you've been doing, how the kids are doing, and anything else you would like to share with us. If the kids want to say hello, we would also love to see their smiling faces!

If I have any other updates related to school I'm happy to share at that time, but just know that we have no additional information right now on what the fall will look like. As soon as we do, we will communicate that. Please rest assured that we will do whatever we can to ensure the most safety for all of our students and staff!

Nurse's Nook

It is hard to believe that the school year is almost over. I hope that you and your family are safe and healthy during this difficult time. If you have questions or concerns regarding a health treatment plan that your child has, please feel free to email me at suttoncr@pwcs.edu. The school division has not made a decision as to when I will be able to return any medication that your child may have in the clinic. PWCS will notify families when a date has been determined. If you or someone you know has a rising KG student, I am more than happy to answer any questions or concerns regarding the requirement for a school physical and immunizations. Please continue to stay safe and healthy over the summer. I can’t wait to see everyone in August!

We continue to update our Counselor website weekly with resources. You will find food resources, counseling resources (counselors who are accepting clients via telehealth), and family support. Please check our web page frequently as we will continue to update it over the summer as well.

Our Facebook page is Montclair Elementary School-PWCS or follow us on Twitter @Montclair_elem and our hashtag #montypride. Twitter allows a unique opportunity for families to have a daily view into the awesome learning experiences happening throughout the day at Montclair. Twitter is not only an awesome way for us to communicate the variety of learning opportunities that students participate in regularly, but it can also give parents a starting point for engaging their student in conversations about what they're doing in school throughout the week.

Student Registration (K-5)

Online registration for the 2020-21 school year is currently open for students new to Prince William County Schools (PWCS) or returning from another school division. Students currently receiving preschool services through PWCS do not use online registration; instead, you should contact the school at which the student will be attending Kindergarten to complete the enrollment requirements.

Please click to view the PWCS Online Registration Process and to enroll a student.

Are you Moving?

Please click on the link below to complete the survey ONLY IF you have plans to move over the summer and will not be returning to Montclair Elementary. This will help with our projected 2020-2021 enrollments #s.

Thanks for your help in this matter.

Our PTCO event year ended a bit sooner than we expected, but we are still here! If you have future ideas and/or comments about the past year we want to hear from you. We miss our Cardinal Family and can't wait until we see each other again! We have a few holes to fill in the board next year as well as committee positions.
